That wasn't that bad. I mean, I know not being able to swear and cause too much havoc might have been annoying for some of us, but we complain enough about ports where monsters are trying to eat us and floods that leave everyone psychologically damaged and/or death tolling. If I've got to choose between not being able to swear, or psychological trauma? I'm pretty much always going to go with the former.

[And added later, after the private messages, in a considerably more 'fuck everything' tone of voice:]

Costigan's gone. Again.

[And deleted a few seconds after he posts it:] Why are we losing so many people?

When you've got a moment, I need to talk with you about something.

[Private to Costigan]

Hey. Can we talk? If you're not busy.

[Dick's voice is very flat and very depressed. He can't really deal right now.]

Costigan's gone. Off the Barge. I'm not - I'm not sure if he's coming back.

[Meaning, his item's stopped responding to him and there's no sign of him anywhere, and Dick has so many sads. He pauses for a moment like he's going to say something else, but turns off the feed instead.]

Wish I could say that was interesting. Anyone get tossed off? [The tone clearly implying "I sure hope they did trollolol c:"]

[Private to Costigan]
Where are you?

[ooc: Dick is not actually affected, but will be pretending to be, and has done his homework on his counterpart, so people probably shouldn't notice much is off unless they know him particularly well.]

[Warden Filter, David + Costigan & Inmates who are known causalities.]

Earlier this morning, David Harris went on a rampage, while affected by Death Knight abilities apparently granted by Arthas Menethil. His specific goal was to attack his warden, Jason Bourne, but while affected attacked and injured several others.

His known victims are:
- Slade Wilson - Alive (?), frozen solid.
- Dallas Winston - Killed, assaulted.
- Rex Lewis - Alive, assaulted,
- Zuko - Alive (?), frozen solid.
- Vanessa VanCleef - Alive, assaulted.
- Claire Bennet - Alive, assaulted, was incapacitated by ice.
- Jason Bourne - Alive, assaulted.

Tim Drake and I intervened when we heard a disturbance in the dining hall. David had his warden, Jason Bourne, pinned up against a wall by the throat, and didn't recognize us initially. After talking him down, he gave up the powers himself, without being forced to, and stopped his attack. Tim's taken David down to Zero.

Does anyone actually have status reports on the people he attacked, or more information about people who might have been injured? People who were hurt, a sound off would definitely be appreciated, if you're up to it. If not, I need some help trying to figure out where they are and how much immediate medical attention they'll need.

[Same Filter, but minus David.]

[There's a short pause. When Dick speaks again, it's definitely not in the voice of the usually good natured, friendly twenty something guy he usually presents himself as. It's harder, more intimidating and has serious overtones of Batman in it.]

I just want to make it explicitly clear that anyone who attempts revenge for what happened is going to have me and Tim to deal with. We've had issues in the past with people taking revenge after incidents like this - [The largest one he's got in mind, of course, is Perry's revenge killing of Rex.] - And nothing good's come of it. Don't be stupid.

David was pushed into this. He was desperately lashing out in response to someone he thought was a threat to his safety because of tactics his warden had used against him during his first escape attempt. I'm not saying David is blameless or we need or should to condone what he did or encourage him to do it again. But hurting him further now will do nothing but make things worse. What he needs right now is for people to support him. He needs positive influences, people who won't respond to violence with more senseless violence, and people who actually care about him, instead of viewing this as just a job, or thinking he's not redeemable based on what he's done here.

He will not go unpunished, and I seriously hope that Arthas will face consequences as well, but let that be handled by the appropriate people.

[Private to Bourne]

I'm including you in this. We both know the last time David hurt you, your judgment was clouded and you caused him serious psychological trauma. If you're feeling similarly emotionally compromised? Find someone else to do it. Not you, not Claire. Some other warden.

[And full on Batgrowl. Low, intimidating, controlled, the kind of voice that makes people crap their pants, regardless of their training or background.] And if I hear one word about you doing anything to hurt him further? David flipping out again is going to be the least of your problems.

I need a Walther PPK for Costigan during port, with at least two extra full magazines, please.

[The feed turns on, and after some dizzying fumbling, Dick manages to pick it up and actually look at the camera. He, frankly, looks terrible. His bad luck basically meant he's slept through the drama.]

... Guess my not getting eight hours of sleep a night's finally catching up to me. [He's slurring a little, too tired and dizzy for filters, and slowly reaches up to rub a hand over his face and frowns at the camera.]

What's happening? Costigan, you okay?

[ooc: So as to keep some of my guys out of the running for damage controlling/protecting Sveta and such, Dick is going to be asleep/pretty out of it for most of the event. He'll still reply to the post, but then he's heading back to sleep.]

[Dick Grayson, AGE TWELVE, is looking pretty smug and uninterested in all your OH NO WHERE AM I HAVE I BEEN KIDNAPPED flailing on the network, because he remembers the Barge and thinks he's been here as a twelve year old troll of a warden this whole time.]

This is totally queer. Is this going to be one of those stupid floods where no one ever finds out the pattern to it? Because those really blow chunks.

And is anyone not affected except me?

[Private to Costigan]

Yo. You still you?

[ooc: Dick is from the infamous series ALL STAR BATMAN AND ROBIN THE BOY WONDER often shortened to ASBAR. Because it's Frank Miller, it's pretty casually offensive and as such I apologize for anything this small troll says to your characters during this flood.]

Costigan's in a coma. I'm bringing him up to the infirmary now.

[Private to Tim]

You doing okay?

When I first got here, someone [Costigan.] asked me what happens when you can't get the time away you need to de-stress and relax. When stuff just keeps piling on and there's no way to get some time away to just process all of it, and focus on yourself for a couple days. And I said that "you just suck it up and keep fighting the good fight", because it's either that or letting yourself get crushed under whatever it is you're working on and giving up on it.

I stand by that. If the job's that important, that you've stuck by it long enough to get to that point? You keep working on it. It's something that matters, and even if it sucks, it would be worse to let it destroy you, or to not get it done, or both.

[Friend Filter. If you think you're on it, you're on it.]

Everyone doing okay? I don't know if this is a flood or a gasleak or just something driving people a little crazy, but I figured I should check in anyway.

Anyone notice any turbulence? Got any theories? Figure we should get right down to it before people start really panicking.

[Private to Tim]

Still worrying about Bruce? [Which is basically his way of asking if you're doing okay specifically.]

[Private to Costigan]

Checking in, buddy. Everything still in one piece, or are you missing some stuff?

[Private to Mal]

So, got any theories on why Arthur's quoting poetry and acting kind of... spacey and super paranoid? [You'd know, right awesome nice lady who knows Arthur?]

[Dick's already spent a decent amount of time investigating the situation - always be prepared might as well be the Bat motto rather than the Boy Scouts - and the communicator's not all that hard for him to work around. So, instead of fumbling video or accidental audio posts, you get a steady image of him in his room, sitting on one of the couches in the penthouse. He looks somewhere in his late teens - he's actually seventeen, but appears a little older - and is dressed in a white t-shirt and jeans. His left arm is in a sling, but he's handling things just fine one handed.]

Whatever this is, assuming there's a shot I've just swapped places with my counterpart instead of actually just... whatever else could be going on, I would really like to know when I can get back to where I'm supposed to be. Or go back to being the correct age or whatever. I still have some things that need to get taken care of back home.

[Which basically means I need to get my life back on track, because he's just been fired and dropped out of college and tossing this on top of the pile is kind of a bummer, if you can imagine.]

How much does time pass while we're here? Is there a difference, or are we basically moving in real time?

[He looks around the apartment. It's pretty clear that he lives here, but this particular penthouse is unfamiliar to him - Bruce bought it and converted it into a safe house a while after Dick's current timeline. He hasn't investigated the closet and found his Nightwing gear yet, nor has he found Costigan's file - which is safely locked away - but he's been skimming backlogs like crazy.]

And I guess I'm supposed to be making contact with Bill Costigan?

[Private to Bruce]

Why did you call me Batman?
I know you're here.
Assuming you give a damn

[lol no real message for Bruce. :c]

I know it's kind of ridiculous to try to look for a point to any of this? But I still think it if we were going to be able to be contacted by people not on the Barge, it would have been more handy to let us pick who we could contact. And when to contact them in the timeline.

I hate time travel.

[Private to Costigan]

I saw you talking with Sullivan. How are you doing?

[Private to Hayley]

So, I met your Harvey.

[Private to Bruce; added a little later]

You told Crane?

There's nothing more frustrating then having some nagging idea - or a problem or whatever - that you just can't figure out the solution to. And I'm not saying this as a cry for help about the stuff I'm stuck on or anything, or making some comment about life on the good ship Barge right now, and it could easily just be that I haven't gotten more then like, three hours sleep a night in a good week at this point, but there are things I just kind of can't seem to let go of, and I'm starting to feel a little worn out.

So basically, if anyone's got any fun new suggestions for dealing with insomnia while stuck in a pretty contained environment, I'd be happy to hear them.

[Private to Jason]

[He was... very seriously considering not saying anything, but. This is called making an effort. :|]

So I took some Benadryl.

[Private to Howie]

I never really apologized for losing my temper with you the other day, so, I'm sorry I lost my temper over something kind of ridiculous.

[Private to Arthur]

I know this is a potentially extremely stupid question, but do you need anything while you're on babysitting duty?

[Private to Tim]

You're waiting for a train. You don't know where it will take you, but it doesn't matter. Why?

[Private to Costigan]

How's Rex doing?

[Dick has some slight bags under his eyes, but looks considerably less miserable then he did in his first post. He's sitting on the couch in his room, Costigan's wandering around in the general area of the kitchenette, and all in all, he's a little more Robin and a little less scared orphan.]

Tim and I wanted to know why we're in space, but we're not getting sucked out into it and can breathe and stuff when we're on deck. Does anyone know why?

Are we actually going anywhere, or are we just kind of... going until someone comes to take us back home?

[He looks off screen for a minute before sort of shyly saying to the off camera inmate:] Hey, Bill?

[He wants to ask how to leave messages for people specifically without telling the whole ship he'd been up all night crying about his parents, so after a beat turns back and switches the feed off.]

[Private to Mal, after filters are explained]

Thank you for coming over last night.

[Private to Tim; added after talking to Steph]

That girl, Steph, is looking for you. I don't know why, but she said she lost you.

[Spam for Costigan]

[Dick put the communicator down, fidgeting on the couch a little uncomfortably before looking back over at Costigan. He'd still been keeping an eye on him - a fact Dick really appreciated, considering how little attention he seemed to get back home - but the kid felt bad about totally losing it. He didn't know if Bruce had warned him about the nightmares or anything, although he assumed he knew what had happened to his parents.] I'm sorry I kept you up last night.

[Filtered away from Hoffman]

The hardest part of the job is always realizing that you can't prepare for everything. You can't be everywhere at once. And you can't always save the people you care about.

I'm not just talking about here, or about being a cop, but really, no matter what you do, if there's some level of danger posed to your or others, or even if there isn't, you're going to eventually have to face what it's like to lose someone you care about.

And you never feel more powerless then when someone you love gets caught in the crossfire of some psycho with a gun. Or a crowbar.

I've seen a lot of violence. And I've lost a lot of people. And it never gets any easier feeling like you failed, even when there's logically nothing you could have done to prevent what happened, because you cared and you should have been there for them. And honestly? I'm tired of it. I'm tired of seeing people I love die, or get ripped apart or tortured or crippled or blown up because something went wrong.

So when you can do something to help? When you can intervene and you can do some good and maybe save someone, even if you're putting your life on the line? You do it. It's never been complicated for me.

[Strikes readable by Bats minus Jason (sorry buddy :c). The whole post is public for maybe five minutes before he deletes it, but feel free to assume your character caught it before he did.]

[Private to Bruce]

Can we talk?

[Private to Tim]

How are you doing?

Feel free to spam hanging out in the room or your character coming down being like HALP MY ARM IS FALLING OFF D: and Tim might be adding some notes to people once Ari gets back from work.

The two Robins are heading off to raid the infirmary and kick some ass at some point, thus wanting some ppls to hold down the fort while they're gone.]
