I know it's kind of ridiculous to try to look for a point to any of this? But I still think it if we were going to be able to be contacted by people not on the Barge, it would have been more handy to let us pick who we could contact. And when to contact them in the timeline.

Amanda? About as well as can be expected. Every time we talk, we have to get through five minutes of argument over whether I'm going to quit and leave the ship, then another five of death threats and declarations of love for Jigsaw.

We talked about the books she likes to read. I'm going to count that as "progress".

I'm worried about this thing of hers with Hoffman. For all of the death threats, she hasn't made a move since I became her warden. I can't watch her all the time, I know...but I sure feel like I should.

I get that impulse. Do you think there's a reason she hasn't attacked him yet?

There could be a million reasons. Maybe she's waiting until I let down my guard, or he lets down his. Maybe she can't find a way to do it, or a good time.

Or she's distracted by something else.

[She sighs.]

Or maybe she's just bored with it and turning her attention back to her games.

This is going to take a lot of time. She's a tough nut to crack.

No kidding. Whoever this John guy was, he sure did a good job of completely messing around with her and Hoffman.

He definitely did a number on her, but...

In some ways, he was good for her. Got her reading psychology, philosophy, engineering texts, got her clean. If he was a complete monster, it would be easier to break her of this obsession she has with him.
