When I first got here, someone [Costigan.] asked me what happens when you can't get the time away you need to de-stress and relax. When stuff just keeps piling on and there's no way to get some time away to just process all of it, and focus on yourself for a couple days. And I said that "you just suck it up and keep fighting the good fight", because it's either that or letting yourself get crushed under whatever it is you're working on and giving up on it.

I stand by that. If the job's that important, that you've stuck by it long enough to get to that point? You keep working on it. It's something that matters, and even if it sucks, it would be worse to let it destroy you, or to not get it done, or both.

"Well, no one bothered asking me if I was a vigilante, which was. Fine." [Pause.] "And then he got pissed when I asked him what the hell he was thinking. It was sort of a minor disaster."

"Did he... ground you or something?" [Sorry, Kirk is taking his time with making his moves. He's distracted sort of.]

"No, he accused me of like, lying in wait for him to kick the bucket so I can take over as Batman, and then I broke my hand." [Oh, it's totally cool. He gets being distracted.] "He sort of apologized, but I'm still confused about why he did it."

"I'm confused why he did that. But I hardly know him. You're not trying to kill him off so you can be Batman are you?"

"Jim, I jumped in front of an antimatter ray for this guy about a year ago. I don't really remember a lot from right after it happened, but I've been told I almost died. I'm usually trying to prevent him from dying."

"Then he's crazy. Though if you were going to kill him for any reason, I'd go for the mass wealth and cool toys."

"But I get the cool toys anyway."

"But do you have the money?"

"Not as much as like, CEO of Wayne Enterprises or anything, but I've got enough to get by."

"That's actually nice. You get shit pay as a starship captain."

"Really? But you're off protecting the Federation from hostile aliens and stuff. Seems kind of important."

"I also get free room and board on my very own starship." [Jim smirked a little bit.]

"This is true. And I can't say I'm not a little jealous."

"If I ever head back there, you can come check it out."

"Seriously?" [TIM IS GOING TO BE SO JEALOUS.]

[Suck on that Tim. Bros only.] "Yeah, I brought Leia back with me a few months ago. I dunno why you couldn't come if you wanted."

"People wouldn't like... be confused about some guy running around they've never seen before?"

"Probably. But I'm the Captain. So who cares."

"... Do I get to wear a uniform?"

"You don't have to. Actually, you probably shouldn't since you're not a member of Starfleet. We could probably give you some blacks to wear if you wanted."

"I wouldn't stand out more in just a t-shirt and jeans? Or, better yet, my Nightwing uniform? Blacks would probably be good."

"We host visitors all the time." [Kirk was really trying not to laugh. It's not that big of a deal to have civilians on the ship.] "My crew's cool. They probably won't assume you're a terrorist."
