It's called the Witchblade. I mean - that's what people call it, nowadays, generally. The Vatican calls it the Digitabulum. If it's got a name of its own it hasn't told me.
If you're asking where it's from originally, I...don't know that either. An archaeologist friend of mine dated it to at least 2000 BC, in Egyptian temple writings, but she didn't think it originated there.
