I just brought Poison Ivy down to Level Zero after she kidnapped, tortured and murdered Edward Blake, who's recovering in the infirmary. Steve knows what happened. [And you won't be getting any details on it, because it was pretty horrific and Dick really wants to just go sit in the shower for like, an hour.]

As long as T'Pol's in a coma, I'll be taking responsibility for Ivy from here on out, so if anyone has any questions about what happened or has an issue with her, I'd appreciate you directing them to me. She'll be down in Zero for the full week.

Again, I just want to stress with people that even with her abilities weakened, she's still extremely dangerous, and her pheromones still pack a punch. Use caution when approaching her, and don't let her have access to any toxic plants.

[Private to Sara, about two hours later]

I don't know about you, but I could really use a break from being here right now, and I'm bringing a bottle of wine and a picnic blanket up to the CES, if you want to join me.

[Dick immediately smiles back when he sees her and - possibly left over from the breach, but maybe not entirely - tried to not pay all that much attention to the way it felt like he was blushing or maybe looked a little too much like a teenager with a crush. He'd sought her out for a reason, and it didn't have to do with the breach.]

Hey. How are you doing? [He turned to unlock the door and held it open for her.]

I don't think I'll ever be old enough to feel like I'm a safe distance from my teens, let's put it that way. [Very dry, but also a mute admission that the needlessly aggressive psychopath-in-recovery was a not inaccurate depiction of herself at that age.] Is it worth me asking if you're okay?

[She steps through the doors, and the CES has done them a favour - rolling meadows, dotted trees, pretty much the sort of atmosphere you'd want to bring a picnic blanket to.]

[Dick laughed softly, not really sure if he should make a joke about it or not, because apparently his breach self had found that all endearing. He starts walking away from the door, wanting to get a little further in so it would be less likely they'd be interrupted by someone else.

Which brings him to her question, and he sort of considered how to answer it for a moment.]

I'm not, but I will be. [Which was more honest than he'd be with a lot of people, because he knew Sara knew it was bullshit, to say you were fine after something like this had happened.]

[She nods. 'Will be fine' is the best you can do, sometimes, and she appreciates the honesty. It's much more reassuring than the glib bullshit she tends to hand out to people, and it makes the silence more comfortable as she goes with him deeper into the Enclosure.]

[Dick finally picks a spot and hands over the wine and plastic cups so he can put down the blanket. It's not super expensive, but it's definitely a nice bottle, not that he's really up on this sort of thing. Once he's satisfied with the blankets placement, he takes a seat on it and looks up at her, smiling a little.]

[She sees what he's brought with him for the first time and it surprises a laugh out of her.]

You brought plastic cups? Never knew you were such a cheap date.

[Dick laughs a little and gestures for her to hand them over so he can get the bottle open, the corkscrew's in one of the cups.]

They're easier to clean up if something happens to them. [And he felt weird using the actual nice stuff, still. Sometimes he wondered if he should get over himself and ask for his old apartment back or something.]

I've got it. [She sets the cups down somewhere flat enough to hold them and twists the screw into the cork.]

If you're expecting us to get too drunk to hold a glass then I should warn you, we're going to need more wine than this. [And then she gives him a sly look, because thanks to Risa they both know that he's a lightweight and she can basically drink liquor like it's water.] Well. I will.

Please, this is purely a me thing, I'm pretty sure by the time you're that far gone, I'll already be dead. [It was probably embarrassing that he could resist truth serums and hypnotism, but get one drink in him and he was basically useless.]

[She just laughs and pours for both of them. This is nice. Being a safe distance from anything that looks like work, teasing a cute guy about not being able to hold his booze, this is....well, a hell of a lot more normal than anything she's managed to get up to in Manhattan lately, how messed up is that. She offers him a cup.]

Want to propose a toast?

[Not messed up at all, remember who you're hanging out with.

Dick accepts the cup and looks at her a little curiously, because honestly he can't really think of anything in particular to toast right now, which... probably wasn't that shocking, considering what his day had been like]

To what?

Would I be tempting fate if I said 'the hope of a quiet, boring week'?

[He shrugs a little.] Maybe, but it's the kind of fate tempting I can get behind.

[And he's raising his glass.] To the hope of a quiet, boring week.

Cheers. [She toasts him with a dull plasticky sound and sips her wine.]

So can I ask how the breach was for you? And - apologize for any cracked ribs I might've left you with.

[Dick takes a sip of his wine and chuckles at the rib comment, shaking his head a little.]

No, I actually got out of it pretty unscathed, for once, which I figure is a good thing because I've been getting kind of tired of it hurting to breathe. [He considered the question for a moment and shrugged.] It was okay. Kind of more normal high school than my actual high school experience, which I guess is kind of depressing to admit to.

On the other hand, you're in good company. How many people here d'you think had a 'normal' time of it at high school? God knows the closest I got to an average adolescence was watching The Breakfast Club.

How many people here do you think had a normal anything? I can't think of a single person who just seems like a run of the mill person I'd run into at the grocery store.

Hey, I buy groceries.

[Beat.]

...okay, granted, but even knowing what little I do about your home life, how many of your acquaintances at home were 'run of the mill people'?

[Dick considers the question for maybe thirty seconds, because the answer is really depressingly small.]

My old landlord. And my former police captain and partner on the force, so, three. And I kinda fell out of touch with them.

See? None of us would know what 'normal' was if it hit us in the face. That's why we can get a visit from whatever the hell the Admiral is and say yes instead of immediately getting ourselves committed. The most we can hope for is...I don't know what you'd call it. Benign weirdness.

What about you? How many normal people are you pals with?

[She takes a quick sip of wine and doesn't even need time for counting.]

[Her partner and her dead best friend's daughter. Yep. That's it.]

Well, normalcy's overrated anyway. [He's making a joke, but uh seriously Dick knows his "normal" life would be boring as fuck and he's happy with how things turned out.]

[Sara has a number of opinions on this subject but they're better off repressed, so she just smiles sidelong at him.]

Company's better this way.

Flatterer. [He smiles and takes another sip of his wine before glancing up at the sky, almost wary.] Nice night. I figured with the luck I've been having, it might have been stuck somewhere in the middle of a torrential rain storm.
