Rorschach's been brought down to level Zero for attacking Megamind. He'll be down there for the full week.

He should be in the infirmary, but I'm not 100% sure if he got there, I needed to get Rorschach out before things got any worse.

Saw costume. No reason to wear it if otherwise.

And initially evasive. Probable cause for inquiry.

Maybe he doesn't have anything else to wear. Not everyone's lucky enough to wind up here with all their amenities from back home.

[But that's not really the important part, here.] He doesn't have to tell you anything about why he's here or what he's doing, Rorschach. He was on his way to visit Tosh. His boss. He wasn't planning anything. You just beat the hell out of someone for no reason.

Know that. But could have been a reason. Ship filled with inmates, Richard. Don't receive designation without cause. All inmates already guilty of something.

Then what made you attack him and not literally anyone else? Not that I'm suggesting or encouraging it, but you've usually had pretty good self restraint.

It's not your responsibility to question anyone, or to attack them when they don't want to answer you. You don't have any authority here.

Don't need authority to serve justice, Richard. Isn't restricted by permission or responsibility. Didn't have authority in New York either. Not since Keane Act. Some things greater than what's allowed. Should know that already. Given associates. Own proclivities.

He's an inmate. Probably costumed villain, given dress. All the reason I need.

He's not a murderer. He doesn't go out and maliciously hurt other people. [Which is frankly better than can be said of you in some ways. :v]

You hurting him? Is just going to convince him that he needs to up the ante and be ready to hurt the next person who comes at him twice as hard before this happens again. You're not making the Barge safer or proving a point to anyone, you're making the problem worse. Attacking people who don't really deserve it based on appearance alone is ridiculous, and ultimately isn't going to help anyone.

[He's silent for a few moments, head lowering. It might almost be interpreted as contrition. That hadn't occurred to him. Not the rest of it, the pushing him to escalation, although he would't have considered that either. But that the costume was just that. A costume. Not a sign of bad intentions. He knows kids resort to that. Once a year, becoming the monsters to keep them at bay, or at least that was the original intent. But adults?]

Then why is he here. Why the costume. Acts like villain.

Yeah, "acts like: is probably a decent way of putting it. You've noticed how he talks on the network, it's like a bird puffing up its feathers trying to scare off predators. It's all posturing.

I'm not saying he isn't a supervillain. But he's not really dangerous, he's like a kid acting out to get attention.

Shouldn't act like one of them if doesn't want to be treated like them.

[Dryly. So maybe he should have left him alone. Maybe it wasn't the best course of action. But if you act a certain way, he's fairly certain you should have to accept the consequences.

You don't know why he does. The point is, you shouldn't attack someone based on the fact that they look like they might be trouble. That's been a huge problem for people in the past.

Not always. Besides, you've done okay handling most of the people here on board so far, and a couple of them have done stuff a lot worse than wearing a stupid outfit and calling themselves a supervillain.
