016 [audio]

So, don't get me wrong, I appreciate that there hasn't been much mass murder and mayhem since we got back from port. Aside from all this politics stuff that I'm not getting into - by personal choice, I trust the rest of you who are actually more involved with the situation to be able to sort it out - I think it's pretty safe to say things have been pretty quiet, all things considered.

And that's fine. Seriously, I'm definitely not complaining about the apparent lack of horrible crisis situations with dozens of people dying or anything like that. Heck, I've even been kind of enjoying having some time to take it easy, I guess.

But it's the excessive down time I really can't figure out what to do with. I mean, sure, it's nice to have some time to relax and hang out in CES or watch movies or whatever, but I'm used to always having something to do with myself. And I don't just mean helping out an inmate or something, like a tangible case or something to work on. People to interview, places to stake out, paper work to file... I was basically living from one difficult case or catastrophe to the next, and without that everything's felt kind of... weird, these last couple days. I guess somewhere between being a cop and coming here I forgot how to just be used to having some free time to kill.

Anyone got any suggestions on how to cope until the next catastrophe?

[Private to Steph]

Sorry I skipped out on lessons without warning you about it. You up for some more practice later tonight?

[Private to Hayley]

This doesn't change anything.

[ooc: So this is an audio because Dick broke his nose. And it's sort of a funny/embarrassing story, the bruises are still really colorful/noticeable, and therefore no video for you, Barge. Infirmary folk would know it happened twoish days ago in CES while sparring with Costigan, who broke/fractured one of his ribs. IT WAS AN ACCIDENT. :| ]

I imagine so. Even the TARDIS probably wouldn't have been fond of it, had we travelled that way.

Other smaller and more manageable requests, love?

I will. I doubt I'll actually get to Hogwarts. Hogsmeade though, and Diagon Alley.

Of course I do! I'm planning on bringing home sweets for everyone! And I'm definitely going to the Weasley's shop if it's still in business, even if I need to leave Severus at the inn in order to do it.

I don't know, with Fred's death if George would keep it open.

Oh my god. I'm so sorry! I didn't even think to ask. What room are you? I'll bring you over my copy right now so you don't get any more spoiled!

[Martha quickly found her copy of the Deathly Hallows, and she moved to his room. She felt horribly bad when she'd spoiled him, and she couldn't imagine how angry she'd be if someone had spoiled her. She'd just gotten the books back, thank goodness. Considering Severus had already decreed that he didn't care about if people read them or not, Martha didn't have a problem loaning them out.

Knocking on the door, Martha waited there with a grin on her face.

[Martha tended to forget that the epilogue existed, because it was horrible and tended to read like exceptionally bad fanfic and that wasn't something that she abided by. However, she knew that he had to at least know that Severus wasn't evil, given that he was here and a warden and was going back. Well, at least she hoped that he knew that. He was going to get an awful shock if he didn't.

When there was that wide smile, Martha grinned quickly in return.
]

Hey yourself. I hope this at least helps a bit with the boredom.

It's an interesting read. If somewhat sad. [Martha cried a lot during the book actually. Like loads, starting in the first chapter. But that was beside the point. She handed it over to him with a grin.]

I've also got a large amount of movies if you're interested as well.

Part of the joy of traveling in time? I've got loads of stuff from after 2008, which is when I'm from, actually. You'll need to come over and take a look.

[Martha grinned quickly at that, because she'd spent a good deal of time extending her collection when she and the Doctor had gone traveling for her birthday last year. She herself was rather fond of the Barge, most of it anyway... well, the periods when it was between horrible times. Like now, and the boredom that he was complaining about; that was rather lovely indeed.]

Do you have anything in particular you're looking for?

No, thank goodness, the ones Lucas already made were horrible enough. I'd prefer it if he stepped back away from them forever.

[Martha grinned a bit at that, and then she tapped her fingers against her lip as she decided what to suggest to him. That was the problem with not really knowing someone that well. Hmm.]

What kind of movies do you like?
toldastory: (I rule)

Fanboys are still creatures. Fangirls as well.

[Martha was poking fun of herself, and of the people like her, and it showed. She took a deep breath and tried to remember what had been nominated for the 2007. ]

Hmm. There was Atonement, based on the book. Brilliantly done, but made you sob your heart out, Michael Clayton starring George Clooney, Juno about a teen pregnancy, and No Country for Old Men. That was a Cohen brother's film. I'm missing one, I think. They didn't go with ten nominees till after that.

My brother Leo was so angry, he actually walked out ranting about it.

[Martha laughed at the memory and nodded.]

It's past my time. I just remember it from when I was in 2010 with the Doctor.
