[Warden Filter, David + Costigan & Inmates who are known causalities.]
Earlier this morning, David Harris went on a rampage, while affected by Death Knight abilities apparently granted by Arthas Menethil. His specific goal was to attack his warden, Jason Bourne, but while affected attacked and injured several others.
His known victims are:
- Slade Wilson - Alive (?), frozen solid.
- Dallas Winston - Killed, assaulted.
- Rex Lewis - Alive, assaulted,
- Zuko - Alive (?), frozen solid.
- Vanessa VanCleef - Alive, assaulted.
- Claire Bennet - Alive, assaulted, was incapacitated by ice.
- Jason Bourne - Alive, assaulted.
Tim Drake and I intervened when we heard a disturbance in the dining hall. David had his warden, Jason Bourne, pinned up against a wall by the throat, and didn't recognize us initially. After talking him down, he gave up the powers himself, without being forced to, and stopped his attack. Tim's taken David down to Zero.
Does anyone actually have status reports on the people he attacked, or more information about people who might have been injured? People who were hurt, a sound off would definitely be appreciated, if you're up to it. If not, I need some help trying to figure out where they are and how much immediate medical attention they'll need.
[Same Filter, but minus David.]
[There's a short pause. When Dick speaks again, it's definitely not in the voice of the usually good natured, friendly twenty something guy he usually presents himself as. It's harder, more intimidating and has serious overtones of Batman in it.]
I just want to make it explicitly clear that anyone who attempts revenge for what happened is going to have me and Tim to deal with. We've had issues in the past with people taking revenge after incidents like this - [The largest one he's got in mind, of course, is Perry's revenge killing of Rex.] - And nothing good's come of it. Don't be stupid.
David was pushed into this. He was desperately lashing out in response to someone he thought was a threat to his safety because of tactics his warden had used against him during his first escape attempt. I'm not saying David is blameless or we need or should to condone what he did or encourage him to do it again. But hurting him further now will do nothing but make things worse. What he needs right now is for people to support him. He needs positive influences, people who won't respond to violence with more senseless violence, and people who actually care about him, instead of viewing this as just a job, or thinking he's not redeemable based on what he's done here.
He will not go unpunished, and I seriously hope that Arthas will face consequences as well, but let that be handled by the appropriate people.
[Private to Bourne]
I'm including you in this. We both know the last time David hurt you, your judgment was clouded and you caused him serious psychological trauma. If you're feeling similarly emotionally compromised? Find someone else to do it. Not you, not Claire. Some other warden.
[And full on Batgrowl. Low, intimidating, controlled, the kind of voice that makes people crap their pants, regardless of their training or background.] And if I hear one word about you doing anything to hurt him further? David flipping out again is going to be the least of your problems.

Am I right, or is this the kind of person you are? If it is, tell me now, and I won't waist my breath. But if I'm right and you're not, then you might want to prepare some kind of statement for the wardens. Not excuses, but explanations.

You want an explanation? [He smiles with no trace of humor.] I got tired of being pushed and pushed back. That's all there is to it. It was just me pushing back and a whole lot of people that weren't supposed to get caught in it got caught up in it. That's all this is.

[He closes his eyes, pinches the bridge of his nose, and leans one side against the bars, crossing his arms.] What did this change with Bourne?

[He had risen up to a sitting position before, and now lays back against the wall of the cell, leaning his head back on the cold surface.] Bourne knows I'll find a way to push back now. Yeah, he'll come after me as soon as he's feeling up to it, he'll make me a rat again, but at least now he knows. [Again, he looks like he wants to say something else but stops himself.]
