[There's a second or two of silence before Dick starts speaking, because he is very consciously trying to stop himself from blurting out "Holy _______" statements and adding Bat to the beginning of nouns, and it is quite the uphill battle, unfortunately. His "superpower" is basically adopting Burt Ward Robin's speech patterns TO THE XTREME. :|]

[Filtered to people who know THE BIG SECRET. So basically Tim, Steph, Wally, Costigan, Hayley, Spike, etc. Ask if not sure.]

Holy redundant flood, Admiral, this had better only be for a couple days. I'm starting to talk like the Robin from the BatTV Show character flood again and the Batnovelty's already seriously worn off. How's everyone else holding up?

[Dick wasn't really tired, and was a little more focused on keeping her company until the flood passed, thus why he'd agreed to stay over in the first place. He didn't want her by herself if another train passed through the room.]

Do I have to?

[Ariadne nodded with a bright smile.]

Yeah, you do. Or we'll keep talking about batthings.

[He snickered, shaking his head slightly.]

Fine, fine. What got you into Batarchitecture?

[Ariadne quietly rejoiced at the sound of his amusement. He seemed to really like hanging out with her and that was something that really pleased her.]

It was something I wasn't really interested in until high school. And then, my parents and I went on vacation in South Africa. Those mountains inspired me.

Just like that, huh?

[Dick's "aha moment" had happened when he was eight, so the idea of not really knowing what you wanted to do with yourself until high school was kind of an odd one.]

[Then again, Ariadne had her eye on dream sharing, despite her conversation with Eames. Dream sharing was so beyond incredible.]

Just like that.

[Dick nodded thoughtfully.]

Not a bad way to start off.

[Ariadne nodded, folding her hands between her knees.]

And I got really into drafting in high school. It was incredible to be creating things that hadn't existed yet on paper.

Do you actually get to build any of it yourself, or do you just do the Batplans?

I make models, yeah.

[And made them real in dreams, but that was a different story.]

Pretty sure you're the first Batarchitect I've actually talked to about architecture more then once.

[Ariadne raised an eyebrow at that. Was it really that unusual?]

What do you mean?

Nothing. I guess I just don't know a lot of architects.

[The only one he could think of off the top of his head was John Stewart, and if they ever had opportunity to talk, it was more about whatever crisis situation they were handling.]

[Ariadne tucked some hair behind her ear, glad that she could at least be the example for the architect. She was social and thought she was nice as often as she could be.]

Bruce was a CEO, wasn't he?

[That didn't quite make sense to her. Most businesses continued to build while they're growing.]

Yeah. But I wasn't really ever that involved with the family business.

[Mostly because he had zero interest in running a company, not to mention he'd stormed out/been effectively kicked out of the house at seventeen. Now that he was older, he could see the act for what it was: Bruce being scared that he'd get himself killed, but at the time, it had felt like the world was being ripped out from underneath him. So no, he'd never really been groomed to take over WE necessarily, and he had definitely been happy just being a cop, for as long as that had lasted.]

[Ariadne tilted her head to the side a little as she furrowed her eyebrows.]

You were more into law enforcement? How did he take that?

[He laughed softly, looking away from her for a moment to look down at his hands in his lap before answering, a small smile on his face.]

That... is sort of a long Batstory.

[Ariadne focused on that smile, nodding quietly.]

Is it too late?

[She glanced down at her watch again, it was nearing two in the morning.]

Not for me. You want to go to sleep?

[He wouldn't complain if she said yes, considering it definitely was bordering on late for most rational people.]

[Ariadne shifted her weight, re-folding her legs, hesitating in her answer.]

... not really, but I should.

[Or at least try.]

I'm just that interesting to listen to?

[It was a joke, and his way of sort of giving her an out if she wanted it about why she really didn't want to sleep.]

You sound surprised.

[Ariadne smiled wider at him, eyebrows raised.]

[He shrugged playfully, still with the teasing smirk.]

I might be. I don't exactly have much of a social life back home.

[Ariadne carefully got to her feet, grinning.]

You seem to be doing pretty well here.

[She picked up the two mugs on the coffee table.]

I just mean I don't have a lot of free time to hang out with people back home.

[It was true, obviously. He'd sort of had the same group of friends since he was a teenager, with few additions over the years, and all of them were somehow involved with the superhero community. If they weren't, it would be pretty safe to say he wouldn't ever see any of them around.]
