She's not from our world. Her parents intervened when the Waynes were being attacked and died instead of them. If she knows why she's here, she's being evasive about it, which means she's an inmate. I don't know specifically why, yet- [Although he maybe has some ideas. :|] but I guess we'll find out eventually.
Obviously it's up to you about how much you want to tell her about back home, but keep that in mind. She's not the same person.
